Feed me!

Feed me!

I was watching the starlings and house sparrows in the parking lot this morning. It's getting hard to tell the juveniles from the adults, except the babies hop around peeping with their beaks hanging open, waiting for someone to stuff food down their throats.

And then there's baby cowbirds, their eggs laid in other birds' nests, who grow huge and outcompete the real babies by aggressively monopolizing the parents' feeding attention. Baby birds are fascinating little eating machines.

No social commentary was intended in this picture, but feel free to read some into it.
