this place seems rather spooky in a weird way. Its a shame the town is obliterated. It was a nice little town in the old days.

Blue Crab

Blue Crab

I spent a lot of time crabbing in the Hudson as a kid, but I don't remember ever eating them. Probably just as well, since crabs are botton-feeders, and the bottom of the Hudson is pretty foul stuff. Then again, so's the rotting chicken used to bait the traps. Why do we eat crabs again?

The blue crab run in the Hudson starts in July, and it's best to catch them early if you want to eat them, since they're more or less fresh from the ocean.

Another insect that is sort of like a real insect, but not really (in this case, a cerambycid). That's code for "I can't find my decent insect anatomy book, so I'm going from memory". Gouache on a 3x5 inch card.
